Medical Visit

This category of visa is for people wishing to visit Schengen area for a maximum period of 3 months (90 days only).

If your stay in the Schengen area will be for more than 90 days, please contact the Embassy through the following e-mail: as we accept Schengen visa applications only.

If the visit includes two or more of Schengen countries, the Embassy of Spain will accept applications according to the following:

  • If the main destination for the Schengen countries, where you will spend the longest duration, is Spain.
  • If you are spending the same duration of days in several Schengen countries but Spain is your first county to visit.

Applicant will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.

Please note:

  • The above mentioned fees are to be paid in cash only.
  • The rate of the Visa fees in Egyptian pound is as per the current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice.
  • All fees are non-refundable.
  1. Visa Application Form filled out in English/Spanish, please check the Application Form. (To be signed and dated at BLS).
  2. (1) Recent photo (3.5x4.5) with white background not more than 6 months old, please check Photo Specifications.
  3. Valid passport for 3 months after the end of the trip (has at least 2 blank pages), with copies of the page that contains the photograph, personal data and of all the pages those are not blank.
  4. If the applicant doesn’t have Schengen Visa before in his/her current passport, he/she must bring an old passport covers the last 7 years (with no gaps between the passports), if none, the applicant must bring a movement certificate from AL-Mugamma for the last 7 years.
  5. Copy of the National ID and the translation, please check the ID Translation Form.
  6. Proof of the professional status:
      For employees, an original signed & stamped HR letter stating the below:
    • Current Position.
    • Salary level.
    • The date of the recruitment.
      For company owners:
    • A Valid Commercial registry and up-to-date tax card.
    • An original enrolment letter from school/university.
  7. Medical documents:
    • From Egypt: All medical history of the patient (applicant).
    • From Spain: An acceptance letter for the case from a hospital or clinic in addition to a proof of payment should be provided.
  8. Up-to-date Original personal bank statement for the last 6 months.
    • A declaration letter should be submitted to authorize the Spanish Embassy to confirm the bank accounts with the authenticity of the bank accounts. In case of non-personal bank account, an ID of the bank owner should be submitted with the declaration. Please check the Declaration Form.
    • In case of non-personal bank account, an authorization letter should be submitted (signed and stamped at the Bank) from the owner of the bank account. (Not required for minors).
    • In the absence of a bank account, a proof of other assets has to be submitted.
  9. Round flight ticket.
  10. Hotel reservation for the whole duration or proof of accommodation.
  11. Travel insurance covers the whole trip that covers the medical expenses and repatriation in case of accident or disease (minimum cover: € 30.000), please check the official Insurance Companies.
  12. For Spouses, a marriage certificate is required (to be issued in Spanish from the civil registry of Abbassia) if they are applying together or one of them is applying with documents relate to the other.
  13. For minors (under 18 years old), it could be done as the following:
    • To visit our office at Cairo & sign the authorization form in front of our officers.
    • To make a consent at the notary, must be translated.
    • In case the parents or one of them is outside Egypt, a parental consent must be issued from the Spanish Embassy or the Egyptian Consulate at the country they exist.
    • In case of the death of the parents or one of them, an original print out of the death certificate must be submitted translated.
    • In case of the legal guardian, the official guardianship must be submitted translated (original & copy).
      Please submit the following documents for the minor in all cases:
    • A copy of the ID or the passport of the parents.
    • Original print out of the birth certificate issued in Spanish from the civil registry of Abbassia.
  14. For foreigners, a valid permit of stay up to (3) months after the end of the trip is required.
  15. For Honeymooners, a proof of wedding/being married should be provided.

Important information for all visa types:

  1. Any accompanied for the patient (applicant) has to apply for a tourist visa
  2. The visa application can be submitted before the travel date by a maximum time of 90 days.
  3. All documents that issued in Arabic should be duly translated into Spanish/English, except (Birth, Death, Marriage & Divorce) certificates must be issued from the civil registry office of Abbassia in Spanish only and to be submitted original. (No need for legalization).
  4. All documents should be submitted original except the tax card, the commercial registry & the travel insurance (the originals need to be seen on the submission day).
  5. The validity of the submitted documents should not exceed one month from the issuance date.
  6. All applicants must attend their appointments at BLS visa application center except minors under 12 years old (they may not attend their appointments but please check the Photo Specifications for them).
  7. The Embassy may require more documents after submitting the application, they will send an e-mail to the e-mail address mentioned in the application form. The additional documents should be submitted within 10 calendar days from receiving the e-mail to BLS office, every day except Friday, Saturday & Holidays from 09:00 a.m. to 03:00 p.m.
    - Copy of the receipt of the application in addition to the e-mail of the Embassy (printed) must be provided with the additional documents.
  8. If the trip includes more than one destination for Schengen countries, The Spanish Embassy of Egypt will be responsible for the issuance of the visa according to the following:
    • If the main destination for the Schengen countries, where you will spend the longest duration of stay, is Spain
    • If you are spending the same duration of days in several Schengen countries but Spain is your first country to visit.
  9. For Group of applicants (more than 9 applicants), please follow the below instructions:
    • The organization/company which is responsible for the group must prepare a list by the full data of the applicants (full name, passport number, date of birth & current address) and all the details of the trip to be submitted to the Embassy.
    • The responsible person should contact the Embassy of Spain through following e-mail address: to get an appointment to stamp the list.
    • After stamping the list, a copy of it with all the data of the organizer/travel agent should be delivered at BLS office (every day except Friday, Saturday & Holidays from 09:00 a.m. to 03:00 p.m.) then we will contact you within the next 48 working hours.
  10. Please be noted that The Embassy of Spain in Cairo accepts only applicants who currently live in the following governments (Giza, Minia, Cairo, El Wadi El Guedid, Suez, Aswan, Assiut, Beni Suef, Port Said, Qena, North Sinai, South Sinai, Sohag, Red Sea, Fayoum, Ismailia & Kalyubeya). While applicants who are living in (Alexandria, Dakahlia, Behera, Gharbia, Damietta, Monafia, Sharkia, Matrouh and kafr el sheik) should contact the Spanish Consulate of Alexandria through the following e-mail: to apply there.
  11. According to a Schengen regulation, the Egyptian citizen who has a valid residency in any other country, he/she has to apply for a Schengen visa to Spain from the country of residency.

Please make sure that the photograph meets the following requirements:

  • You have to provide a one recent one (not more than 6 months old), sized in (3.5 x 4.5) zoom on the face.
  • Must be in color, taken against white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
  • Clear share quality with the face in focus.
  • Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
  • Full face, non-smiling without glasses/sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background.

Note: If children under 12 years old are not attending their appointment(s), the parents have to provide two very recent photographs with their applications. In case the photographs do not meet the required specifications, the children will have to show up at the center to take a live photos.

Please follow these instructions carefully as If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete.

Applications submitted at BLS Visa Application Centre will be delivered to the Embassy of Spain on the next working day. Additional documents could be requested from the applicants in support of the same.

According to The Embassy of Spain the processing time is from 15 to 30 calendar days. In some cases this period could be extended, if necessary, to 30 business days.

Applicants submitting their applications with short notice time prior to the proposed date of travel will be at their own responsibilities.

It is advisable to prepare all your required documents corresponding to your travel dates, to avoid any delay in the application process.
